Description

Ed Boccafogli, 82nd Airborne, parachuted into Normandy where he was wounded, and also fought in Holland and the Battle of the Bulge. Chuck Hurlbut was a combat engineer on Omaha Beach. These interviews are all 1 to 2 hours long, seven interviews, 11 hours in all. Lou Putnoky, a great storyteller, was a radio man on the USS Bayfield, the flagship of the Utah Beach invasion fleet. Angelo Crapanzano was a survivor of Exercise Tiger, a landing exercise five weeks before D-Day that went tragically awry. Patsy Giacchi was on the same LST that was torpedoed in the English Channel in the middle of the night. Vince McKinney, 1st Infantry Division, was in the first wave on Omaha Beach. Bill Pirone was in the 2nd Cavalry and landed shortly after D-Day. Later on he suffered combat fatigue. Listen to an excerpt from the interview with Ed Boccafogli.
